On the auspicious day of August 3rd, 2024 - Atlanta witnessed a first-of-its-kind "Karkkidaka Vavu Bali" with over 130 participants, including 65 members who performed the Bali Tharpanam.
The Karkkidaka Vavu Bali is a ritual that brings devotees into the presence of their departed parents and ancestors, allowing them to pray for their peace and fulfillment. In addition to paying homage to previous generations and seeking their blessings, this ritual is also known for connecting devotees to their past, bringing a sense of peace and satisfaction.
Rituals were performed under the guidance of well-renowned Malayalee priest, Unnikrishnan Thirumeni. Thirumeni's family has strong relations with Sree Guruvayurappan Temple at Guruvayoor, Kerala and his ancestors served as Chief Priest there at different times. His father was Chief Priest in Guruvayoor temple for six terms. Along with performing lot of poojas and rituals across US temples and for families, Unnikrishnan Thirumeni worked as a priest at
